Oasis at Abu Ali, 2005, 16 x 20-inch Oval Water-based Oil

A young Arab man stands reflectively in prayer on the shore of the Abu Ali Peninsula
as oil slicks wash ashore during the Gulf War. Nearly a decade before, in 1980,
my young daughter crouches to pick wildflowers at an oasis near this same location
as my son jumps exuberantly from a nearby sand dune.
Hopefully, time & nature will bring healing…
